Decoding Modi's Message From RSS Headquarters

As I observe the unfolding political landscape, I cannot help but see Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic address during his visit to the RSS headquarters as a crucial counter to the attempts by opposition forces to fracture India's social fabric. With calls for a caste census, calculated efforts to drive a wedge between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the use of identity politics as a tool for electoral gains, the opposition appears intent on redefining India's unity through the lens of division. Modi’s response, however, was not just a defence but a powerful reaffirmation of Bharat’s enduring consciousness.

Listening to Modi’s speech, I was reminded of the historical resilience of Indian society. Centuries of invasions and subjugation have repeatedly attempted to dismantle our civilisational identity, yet our national consciousness has remained steadfast. It has been nourished by the wisdom of saints, reformers, and visionaries. The Bhakti movement, led by spiritual giants such as Guru Nanak Dev, Kabir Das, and Tulsidas, played a transformative role in bridging social divides and strengthening national cohesion. These figures were more than just religious leaders—they were architects of a united cultural consciousness that defied caste and communal barriers.

What struck me most was the Prime Minister’s emphasis on Swami Vivekananda’s revivalist mission. At a time when India was reeling under colonial oppression and societal inertia, Vivekananda’s words reignited a spirit of self-belief. Similarly, the contributions of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and Guru Golwalkar in the final decades of British rule were monumental—they channelled India’s collective strength into a movement that sought to restore its self-respect and national pride.

I see the opposition’s attempt to weaponise caste dynamics and create friction between the BJP and RSS as part of a broader strategy to disrupt the ideological continuum that has defined modern India’s political trajectory. However, Modi’s articulation of the RSS as the Akshay Vat—the eternal tree of Indian culture and consciousness—directly rebuts these narratives. Far from being an institution of division, the RSS, with its lakhs of dedicated volunteers, has consistently worked towards the upliftment of all sections of society, fostering a spirit of service and national integration.

The fundamental question before us is this: will we allow India to be fractured by politically motivated divisions, or will we rally behind a vision that transcends caste and regional fault lines? The Prime Minister has made his position clear—India’s unity is non-negotiable, and our national consciousness will not be diluted by transient political games. It is up to us, the people, to see through the smokescreen of opportunism and stand firm in the face of forces that seek to divide.

History has shown that when Bharat’s consciousness is under siege, it rises stronger. I believe that the current political landscape is yet another test of that resilience.
